Michael has a teaching philosophy that the task of the modern educator is no longer the provider of knowledge thanks to the miracles of modern technologies like the Internet. He feels that the duty of the modern educator is to provide guidance to students as they "teach" themselves the lifelong learning skills to utilize technology as it develops and understand creator bias when it comes to information sharing.

In the Yellow Creek STEAM Lab, along with the academic fundamentals, students will also learn digital literacy, workforce etiquette, leadership, teamwork, innovative thinking, taking initiative to solve problems, and other essential career workforce skills.
